September 30th was Orange Shirt Day. The day is meant to increase awareness of Canada’s history with residential schools … something I didn’t know existed until I was well into my adult years, despite the last one closing in 1996 when I was 15 years old!!!
On Orange Shirt Day I had a discussion with my MFM2P students to see what they knew about Residential Schools and filled in the gaps for them as best I could. I provided my students with a few links to various resources on numerical facts about residential schools and asked them to each prepare a cue card that represented a numerical fact of their choice.
